Sav and Sylas conduct more experiments on the parasitic grub, bicker about the ethics of science and research, realize that the possessed Swans weren’t actually dead, merely heavily wounded but still alive for a time, and stay up all night to tinker with the inoculation Sav came up with.
The crew all have a big post-breakfast, pre-lunch Warbler, York and Ethan have taken to calling “aft-fast,” with a new invention called potato poles, a spicy green flame curry and fried fish bites. Sav offers to teach Talith blacksmithing, then tells him she destroyed his mom’s heart, which makes him leave the table.
They make preparations to leave (drinking the anti-grub inoculations, silvering weapons, purifying water) before departing; the ships’ sailors and Ethan stay behind.
After some weeks of traveling, Athelia and Roux have a close call with the Feywild enveloping them for a moment, which ends with Athelia releasing the fairies she’s carrying and Somersault, Roux’s steed, interposing himself between them and an enormous wolf/woman, before they’re suddenly snapped out of it and returned to camp. They do not tell the others.
The next day, they encounter two Swans running from floating, psychically-screaming creatures, also pursued by an enormous 30’ tall beast that cracks the force bubble Sav casts over the two Swans with far more ease than it should.
