Wilds of Easvolin
Winter 31 – 32
After discovering Sal and Peach have disappeared, they speculate maybe it’s like what happened with Ava and Seyfried when Seyfried tried to Misty Step out of the way of the falling auronachus.
The Place Between
Sal vs. the Angel of Doors (by Jessica Dru)Peach and Salinger encounter Xalati, who’s been wandering in this realm the entire time. She tells them to run, there’s a large creature hunting her with wings and talons; they all attempt to run and hide, and do from the taloned creature, but fail disastrously when the Angel of Doors comes by.
They battle the Angel of Doors, who rips off Sal’s arm and nearly kills them all until Xalati attempts a last-ditch defense and draws him away while telling Sal and Peach to run, using Sal’s full name for the first time ever. The Angel spears Xalati through the chest while Poppy, large and winged, swoops down and carries away Peach and Sal.
Poppy deposits them in some alternate version of the Temple of the Maiden Thrice. Moving inward, they move through rooms that shouldn’t belong there, scavenge cooking and healing supplies from an abandoned cart, and end up in a version of the Wanderlust.
The Prime
They hike back to the civilians hiding in the Rope Trick, and rush toward the temple to try and turn the Tear to the Place Between there with the Door Jamb. Aureya and Kaisi speculate about how they might need to do bigger things to get there, since space-folding magic seems to be going wrong. Esmund tells Ava of the visions he saw. As they travel south, he resummons Zephyrus, who gives him another vision of Xalati, speared through the chest and mouth streaming blood as she screams.
After they rest, Esmund asks Ava and Kibeth to hold Ixtalan back before she runs off to find Xalati, as well as their general plans. Kibeth suggests maybe they stop trying to rescue Salinger and Peach and just proceed with their plan to save the world, which might have a few more lives than two.
