Dwarven Ruins Deep in the Daggered Rise
After Zephyrus vanishes, having given his speech, Ethan mention the Angel of Eyes, which supposedly knows where everyone is. Caspeid says this is great, they have an invite, why’s everyone so down?
Talith asks if anyone comes out again after going behind the walls; Merrick says the Church of the White Crown sends emissaries out to act as its hands beyond the walls, so yes.
The team is still determined to retrieve Samsel’s stone, so they continue following the Pull, and eventually reach the surface close to the workshop. Along the way Sal sees a relief that is a depiction of a battle he’s heard legends of from his part of the world, very far from here. It depicts a red star hanging off the bottom of the world, named the Abyss. There is also a feathery-winged humanoid being surrounded by an ornate square representation of a prison. They take rubbings and copies of the mural.
Hark’ul and Ethan scout ahead and find the ruins filled with blue dragonborn, and more squads nearby. Sav and Hark’ul are sent to pop into the tower, while the others wait nearby to distract in case it’s needed, but the others end up being spotted before Sav and Hark’ul teleport over. After some brangle, the two find the Shard of the Aasimar Confluence where Gwin said it would be, but the dragonborn scouts have sent up flares and woken Summit, who’s sleeping on a mountaintop looking like his namesake.
Gwin and Yev show up in a ratchety old wooden airship named the Clockwright as the team is trying to escape, and though they take some damage, they manage to evade Summit and escape to the city of Endergaln, where Gwin had once worked.
A Year Later
In the workshop of Gwin, under the patronage of Beryl Vanadium, Sav is working on a problem and intuits that something is wrong about the celestial bodies moving overhead.
There’s something in that energy that reverberates against what’s in the tower—disrupted by something else in the world, and within it is a pattern, burned into the fabric of reality itself, into the people around them. They don’t have the entire puzzle yet, but pieces; they’ve discovered enough to understand that it’s words. Words that made the world, and hung the stars in the sky. Same pattern as the Celestial language. She knows a part of what it says, though she needs more to make it real.
The phrase: Last Hand of the Stars.
