Endergaln

Flashbacks

  • Rhun Enkerig, mid-fight, blood on hammer, kicking open some doors and confronts a room full of illithid and an elder brain in a pool; deeply outnumbered, but focusing attention on himself as three little halflings lower from the ceiling in the back of the room
  • Sav, as a child, perched in the rafters above the stage in the Spindlemark, scurrying to and fro as she engages in her work
  • Ethan sitting in a dingy tavern, gambling with a heavy man for a large pot of 12 gold (large in that village); he goes all in and realizes this is not the time to win against this man; Ethan feigns disappointment, as though repressing frustration and congratulates the other man
  • Bax in Endergaln, some months back; becoming accustomed to the layout of the city, wandering around and seeing if anyone needs a hand, moving from plaza to plaza, looking to help where he can and often giving away any rewards he receives
  • Ashen standing in front of a cell with two undead in flower dresses; a somnolent robed figure in the corner with a hole in its head suddenly twitches and rises. Ashen runs to the desk to grab a glowing gem and smashes it on the ground, and the two undead and the robed figure twitch and fall to the ground. He unlocks the bars and carries the two children in dresses to their mother.
  • Peach walks through Kendall’s Forge, a bucolic trades village, earlier in her time here; she heads to a little cafe, as she always does, and ends up chatting with the pastry chef.
  • She says she’s staying with Sal; the guy doesn’t recognize the name until she mention the home, and he recognizes him as Ori Wisplore’s husband, and warns her to be careful, as Sal’s not safe

The second act begins.
A pink-haired girl named Danica in a town called the Crossing of Aelorean feels the emptiness of the sky and comes out each night to stare at it. Her friends are many, including Rude, who is the oldest a child can possibly be; Green-Eyes, who advertises tonight’s sponsor, Small Potatoes; Dirt Boy, who’s also a sexy werewolf with heart eyes; Red River and her boyfriend, Daring Lake; Math Mouse, a recent arrival from a different town; and Darksilver, inappropriate for all ages.

The stars appear, as does the Octet. The Baroness and her birds destroy the village, accompanied by her daughter, Windy. The children flee to the woods and are taught war by the Red Bandanna, and they meet the mermaid Athelia and her boyfriend, as well as the Cursed Twins, who have dreams of a terrible serpent beneath the sea.

Bax reacts strongly to the arrival of the Cursed Twins, which both Gwin and Sav notice.

Athelia leads the children to a wonderful secret in the north, where they discover that the Octet is an ancient city of the angel kingdom, but the Baroness plans to seize it herself. They ready themselves to take down the Baroness and confront her, where Windy turns against her mother and takes her down.

They travel to the Octet, where Danica stands before the Angel King and calls him false, a monster; the King laughs and says she has no hope. He kills all of them save Danica, who says she realizes she’s now the last true angel, and will never surrender; she will free the people of the world.

Second Intermission.
Bax steps outside and Sav follows to check on him, asking what was up with his reaction over the twins. He says it was shock because he hadn’t thought about them for a while, and they were his first real lesson that promises can’t always be kept. Sav asks if he’s ever had a chance to grieve, and suggests that maybe they hold some kind of memorial for them, so that he can remember them and their space in his life. He says that might be nice.

Ashen steps outside to smoke a cigar, and Yev joins him, saying that it’s not as good without a fire. He thinks this play may be part real, part dream, and asks if Ashen enjoyed the story, to which Ashen says storytelling is a time-honored tradition, and they don’t all need to be true. Yev asks if the white-haired evil is the same one he’s heard Ashen tell stories of, and Ashen denies this, as many things are different in this world.

Flashback to first intermission:
Sal and Rhun Enkerig chat about stories, and Rhun asks if Sal is the kind of man who fights, or if he lives conquered in peace. Sal calls himself more of a fighter. Rhun says he feels Sal mawy be legit and tells him of an old ruined mine, ten days’ travel north and east, where his people are gathering. He says Sal should meet him there in three months’ time, if he wishes to fight.
