City of Galoring
Year 212
“Many have done much to find records of the time before - when the mountains shook so fiercely that the cities of ancient peoples were eaten by the earth, when the skies caught flame, and the seas and rivers rose up and swallowed living men.
You will hear many tales, by the end of your days, of great cities held aloft in the sky by the magic of old and ships that sailed among the clouds. You will hear tales of tremendous and terrible beasts that breathed the sun and roared the storms themselves - and tales of witches, dragon-slayers, goblin kings, and men whose souls lived within the moon.
I encourage you to put those things out of your mind - for they will be of no use to you here among the dirt, the radish, and the hard day’s labor that will put bread on your table and if you are so lucky some wine in your cup.
There were perhaps once glorious and mighty gods that walked the world and graced the mortal kind with boons and blessings, but here in the East they have no love nor care for you - there are but three gods for whom you burn the fat and bones and whisper when the night is cold - The Hunt, The Harvest, and The Torch. Find love in them and you might live long enough to become useful to me.”
