The crew hunt grubs and find their supplies have been corrupted; they send Ethan, Garth and Taren with the ship to get supplies at a farm seen 3 days north.
In the mountains
Sylas has a vision of the Raven Queen, her companion and Bax, come to collect the spirit of Nancine, the unconscious Swan whose intent was to die. Sylas and Bax have a one-sidedly-aggressive conversation (the aggression is on Sylas’ side, naturally) where Bax learns about Sylas’ existence, reveals that he works for the Raven Queen now, but that he’s usually in a fog that Sylas happened to snap him out of just then. Sylas demands an audience with the Raven Queen, and when Bax can’t grant that, tells him to fuck off, which he does.
After some discussion on the Beast, Sylas recovers some of Inquisitor Sylas’s memories and recalls fighting a creature like it with people who look like Roux, Ethan, Danica, as well as Paloma herself. They decide the Beast here is probably the source of the corrupted tainting the river.

(by Shaun McCallum)Nancine the Swan comes to, and ends up giving them the information that she came with a contingent of Swans who went to investigate something Captain Kelwin wanted in the mountains, which came from a ship docked in a port two weeks away. After giving her answers, she asks to die and Roux stabs her, which irritates Sylas. They burn her and Gabrielle, the other Swan.
After an hour’s worth of travel, they find a squad of Swans around an aasimar ruin in a crater, with signs of battle and emplacements of cannon. They come up with a plan to sneak around, take out the scouts, and take over the cannons to use against the Swans. This mostly works, aside from some screams, until Sav figures out that the cannons have been trapped and Kelwin triggers the bombs he has rigged in the canyon walls.
