Avarian shields Athelia from the rocks, stylishly. by Kate QuimbyEveryone but Sav and Sylas get buried in rocks, but they emerge mostly okay and defeat most of the Swans, learning that some Swans now have constellation-marked hands that they can cast magic from. Most of the rest pursue Kelwin into the aasimar pyramid, where only extreme bad luck for him turns the tide for him as he loses control of a spell that explodes in his face; he escapes by the skin of his teeth and a lucky Counterspell from the one Swan remaining. On the way out, he recognizes Sav, which surprises her.

Sav figures out how to open what remains inside the aasimar capsule and opens it with the help of Roux and Athelia, finding a still-glowing blue power sphere. With no ability to figure out what this capsule was for (without the other power source needed to power up the entire thing), she takes the sphere and puts it into Nurie’te, the construct rescued yonks ago. It blinks to life with a blue circle of light and says, “Warning! Danger! Enemy! Retreat! Citadel!”
