Flashback to Naming Day
The girls all pull Esmund into dancing, and an awkward time is had by all. Xalati pulls Sal in to dance and Peach cuts in, annoyed. Kaisi and Xalati dance, but have a spat.
Present Day
They create a bit of a fighting pit in the barn at Cadne Ranch where they’re keeping the auronachus, and put the muzzle on the auronachus. Salinger goes mano-a-auronacho against the juvenile auronachus, eventually persuading her that she should surrender fully if she doesn’t want to die. She accedes, and Sal names her Poppy.
