Name Day gifts continued:
- Kibeth gives Sal a book about tying cravats
- Sal gives Esmund an ever-returning wrench
- Peach gives Seyfried a voucher for a room at the Wanderlust
- Esmund gives Peach a bracelet
The kids experiment a bit with the tear, but before long they feel a shuddering in the earth like giant footfalls and run away.
After some debate, they decide to keep the captured juvenile auronachus at the remains of Cadne Ranch, with two on guard at all times, and to file down its teeth and talons until it can be determined if it can be tamed.
Aureya tries to get Gwin to tell Esmund about the tower he came from, but Gwin remains steadfast.
At the ranch, Sal and Xalati attempt to give the auronachus a manicure, finding its teeth and talons resistant to everything but the magical cleaver. They decide to make it a muzzle, instead, and Sal volunteers to stay back to watch it while the rest go to the temple.
Esmund creates a hole in his workshop, as well as blueprints for the muzzle.
