Misaligned
Shepherd’s End
Autumn 20 – 21
Esmund calls a meeting to inform everyone that the world is tilting on its axis and will slowly end up with the north pole (aka the White Tower) pointing toward the sun. They discuss possible plans of going to a mysterious tower shown on the map, to Myrwood, or to the crashed ship with the sea monster.
Aureya tells Esmund to ask Gwin about the tower on the map, but nothing else.
Xalati and Ava find Xalati’s great-great-aunt Akhai, an ancient fisherwoman, to dissect the sea monster’s parasite-fish Xalati had dragged back; she agrees, if they bring the fish and some wine there. On doing so, she tells them it’s definitely a hunter with tough armor, and that if it’s part of a lot of them following a bigger predator around, the bigger creature must be a messy eater that leaves a lot of scraps. It’s also new, definitely not local to these waters; perhaps migrated over from colder waters now that everything’s gotten cold. They decide to try and cook the fish.
Esmund asks Gwin about the tower and the black key he found in Mulgwud’s stuff, and after some stalling she says they rescued him from there because bad things were happening there with the Chronomancer they worked for. The Verdicts found them and came to kill everyone there, and would have killed the Clockwrights as well if they hadn’t escaped. She makes him promise that they will not let slip any association of him with the tower in the presence of the Verdict.
