They have a meeting at the Wanderlust and eventually decide to go to the shipwreck for supplies, as it’s the closest. They come up with a plan to create a distraction of offal and chum they’ll throw elsewhere to draw off the predators, while some of them go diving for supplies in the ship. Peach has a moment when she realizes Ava is writing on the chalkboard that had Miranda’s last Daily Specials sign. Xalati follows her to the kitchen and comforts her, and Peach suggests that maybe her stepsister Ash should take over the Wanderlust while they’re all away; Xalati agrees to take the idea to her.
Salinger and Aureya have a guarded conversation where he asks if she knew anything about the spear in Salouis’ office that he now carries (hint: it’s a demon-slaying spear). She doesn’t. He admits the only thing he’s scared of is his story not getting told right, to which she suggests keeping a journal to keep the record straight.
After a day’s travel, they arrive at the shipwreck around noon, and split up into three: Yev and Poppy on the shore, three on the boat with the bait and seven doing the diving at the shipwreck. Kaisi tries to establish a telepathic connection with Yev, Esmund, and Xalati, but Xalati immediately rejects it.
