Ava uses necromancy to accelerate the decay of Vathedrian’s body so they can scavenge the mechanical parts from him without sawing into him again. Very thrifty. Esmund tells her about his origin in the Verdict-raided tower.
Autumn 62
The others suddenly start to have different clashing memories of Salinger—he left at 10 on a ship, he stayed behind in Shep’s End, he never moved there, he died as a boy, running concurrently with the memories of the Sal they know. Ava looks up at the sky and points out the cracks running through it.
Esmund finds the day has lasted two hours longer than it should have. Xalati asks if there’s any reason to think other times aren’t leaking over as well, considering other worlds have leaked too. They all engage in some wild mass guessing, ending with Ava pointing at how the cracks in the sky center over the tower, and Seyfried guessing Salinger (or his various versions) might end up there.
Kibeth, Esmund and Xalati go to the ruined library to try and do some research, and come back with their book finds. Seyfried and Peach do the rounds looking for Salinger, but find an absence of Poppy footprints and no record of Sal in Peach’s journal.
After moving to a nicer inn to rest and recuperate, they decide to stay, look for Salinger, and try to tackle the Fabricator who’s been raising the undead.
Seyfried goes off alone to explore the surrounding buildings and finds a nice silk rope and a Deathbrew Alchemist.
