Challenger
Wilds of Easvolin
Autumn 64, night
There’s a face-off amongst the auronachus-folk, Muna defending the Shep’s Enders while the rest of the pack eyes them hungrily. (She claims no Shep’s Enders were eaten, just folk on the road.) They eventually decide to have Salinger challenge the leader to see who would win this encounter. Although he demands that the rest of the group not step in, many of them make the promise with their fingers behind their backs.
Ixtalan and Kaisi spy a river in the distance, with three horse-sized wolves sporting in the river. They approach after the wolves dash off, and experience the same purpling as the Feywild thin spot before. An orc with antlers and feathers twists the air and the thinness vanishes, leaving Ixtalan frustrated.
In the morning, Peach cooks Salinger a blue laurel omelette and tells him not to die. He gives her the canvas of her mom and Kaylie, to open only after the duel.
Salinger and the eggfolk pack leader step up to duel. They both flash invisible and attack.
