Salinger and Esmund talk, with Es saying he feels too anxious and like he needs to be working, while Sal doesn’t feel quite right still.
Aureya and Fayne have a lovely conversation and get to know each other better; Fayne has two brothers, who are stoneworkers and not devout.
Some of them go dancing; Sal finally invites Peach to finish their interrupted dance.
Kibeth and Esmund talk and they brainstorm together about creating an airship to get them to places faster. She suggests using one of the train cars as a base, which he considers, sees how it could work and is ecstatic, hugs her and calls her a genius, which makes her blush brightly.
Regathering, they ultimately decide to return to Shep’s End, use the tears to access the Place Between and maybe help Aureya’s sisters from the temple.
