Tunnels in the Daggered Rise
Flashback
Samsel finds the stone, white with golden facets, in the center of a crater that looks like it was created a long time ago; she feels a sudden ringing connection, like a bell in the distance.
Present
[Scouting Party] The main party team explores for hours.
[Cave Party] The resting party welcomes Hark’ul back from nothingness, and he begins to cook, to Peach’s disbelief at the kinds of ingredients and cookware he has.
[Far Party] The far tunnels team rests for a bit, as Gwin is tired. Gwin says Lux is significantly east of here, and Talith reveals he’s traveled back home and discovered he was last there 250 years ago (Samsel marvels at how old he is).
Gwin says Samsel discovered the stone and is letting them study it, and it has a certain pattern or an aura about it.
Samsel and Talith go off to scout, and find the scouting team from the main party.
[Cave Party] Sal reappears, and remembers the Whiteness as a fog, with distinct pinpricks of light, thousands of them, each of them distinct and familiar. Ashen asks what school of magic it is and who cast it, and the rest of them gang up on him on it not necessarily being a cast spell or a conspiracy; Peach casually drops that Sal came back from being gone, and Ashen goes tense and alert, which makes everyone else go tense and alert, and Hark’ul wield a croissant.
The [Scouting Party] and [Far Party] rejoin the [Cave Party], and at first Gwin thinks Sal is his dad. The Shepherd’s Enders reunite and catch up. Gwin says Esmund appeared to her 5 years ago but didn’t say anything; she built the research outpost 2 years ago but didn’t make progress until Samsel brought her the stone 1 year ago (ish, a little less).
Talith posits maybe the stone is the main draw.
Sav makes everyone talk about their main abilities since the withdrawal was a shambles. Peach mentions her lost rifle, and Hark’ul offers to retrieve it with his super-speed, while Sav makes him invisible.
