Endergaln
Sav is stopped from portaling to the next train by the realization that it’s in public. They get off at the next stop, but are unable to trace the other new Star-touched, and instead continue on their way, riding the rest of the line. No other pings happen, so they return to House Diamante and walk by to get an overview of the walls and the airship; at best guess, the other Shard-like thing is somewhere in the mid-aft of the airship.
Bax and Peach hang out at a cafe and try cake; Bax starts crashing out over the gentry around.
Ashen starts packing, while a mirror version of Samakhael moves creepily independently of the real Sam.
Sal reappears at the Cog and Sprocket, and they all reconvene to share findings and discuss next steps. Suggested approaches vary from sweet-talking the Diamantes, to direct routes of assault, burglary, or robbery.
Albrecht knocks on the door; he wanted to talk to Sav about the letters, but also tells them that Rhun did not tell them they had caught a cleric of the Church of the White Crown and have him captive in the mines to the north, torturing him (so far unsuccessfully) for information, as he’s possessed by an angel unable to escape due to something Camille did. He also says they’re not particularly trustworthy, morally, though perhaps Miranda isn’t so bad; Rhun is all about the ends and doesn’t care about the means. Speculation happens that perhaps it’s at least partly due to not being in the sunlight. He also mentions they’re leaving at the week’s end, and receives an invite to stay with the party instead of leaving Endergaln.
Bax sums up that they need to figure out the layout of the house and ship, and their first priority is finding out more about Diamante.
Ashen tells them that there’s a citadel called the Black Wall, far to the south, deep in the Black, where powerful items may still rest, but nobody ever comes back from it.
