[Flashback] Bishop coaches Ethan just before their first meeting with representatives of the something something (criminal organization) (maybe it was the Copper Blind).
[Present] Ashen tells them more of the Black Wall: a fortified outpost, at the end of a chain of them, built and held for 10 years by about 1000 men who were eventually overwhelmed by the undead. It was well-documented during that time, but nobody ever came back from it after it went out of contact. Ashen says they will need Rhuns’ small but mighty team to make it there.
Sav goes down to talk to Albrecht at the bar and they share histories; Albrecht tells them a little of his lost friends and Sav a little of hers. Albrecht says he’s with Rhun to take down the angels because he wants answers and a way to find his friends again; he doesn’t care as much about the world he came from, but the people, yes.
Everyone but Ethan heads to Rhun’s farm outside the walls, where Camille evades Sav’s question about the Diamantes, Rhun ponders over a map of monster attacks and Ashen impresses him with his knowledge, and Peach goes to brace Miranda about her name.
Miranda and Peach talk, and Peach shows her the painting and the journals, and eventually reveals that her mother called herself Miranda Pine as well. Miranda says Kaylie was her protegee, but that she loved being the center of attention and the fame, and that most of the fame of their deeds was attached to Miranda’s name. She regrets that the last thing she told Kaylie was “Don’t be a hero” when she saw her pick up her rapier while Miranda was turning to stone. Miranda also says that she’s with Rhun because she knows when a man’s set to do something, and Rhun is very much set on doing this; this world doesn’t feel like home to her, either. Peach tries to persuade her to stay with them instead.
When he asks, Miranda tells Bax that Valve went up north along a trail, so he waves Peach off and goes to track Valve, wanting to get Xander’s finger back. He doesn’t find Valve, but he does find a huge pink feathered dinosaur, though he manages to avoid attracting its attention. On the way back, Sav and Peach find him again and Sav scolds him for forgetting pal procedure and soloing off.
Ethan sends his urchins out to collect bunches of broadsheets.
The unknown new Star-touched shows up at the warehouse Jack works at and is named as Miss Frisk, the boss of the Boss, who disappeared mysteriously some time ago, supposedly to the North. She’s looking for peculiar talent to solve a peculiar problem, and Jack says he might have some suggestions.
