A large, red-haired, artistic boy who grew up in Aelorean’s Crossing, the more misfortune he. Acquired the Constellation of the Bear by Danica’s grace. He went north into Jorung to seek his father and Sireli’s brother with Sireli and Danica and died there.

Starting Bio

The boy named Rowen was round faced with ruddy cheeks and unrelenting curls the color of late Autumn. His stout features were often subject to the cruel jibes of other children. This made the boy short tempered from an early age, too stubborn to turn his nose from an unfriendly word and more than likely to bloody his knuckles when pressed.

Defiant, defensive, and irritable, this demeanor has earned him a reputation of a ne’er do well among the older citizens, but Rowen’s friends know him as fiercely loyal and kind hearted. Willing to stand up to others and clever enough to question when given broad commands by a self righteous adult. Frequently agitated, Rowen would disappear for long stretches alone at Oak Keep sketching insects, birds, and particularly interesting leaves with bits of charcoal in an old faded book given to him by his father.

The treehouse was high in an old oak on the edge of Aelorean’s Crossing near the forest where the village children played when they were younger. He would steal away the hours free from chores and school work lying in the sun lost in other worlds. Here he could let things go.

Most of his friends had moved on from Oak Keep, save for the quiet Garbon who would sometimes read beside him, choosing to spend their time playing at sports or the trades their families had chosen for them. He could not abide it. Since his father’s passing two seasons shy of his sixth name day he had not been granted many aspirations. He now had only his mother, Mairwen, a kind faced seamstress of sandy hair who supported their small home with her stitching.

Her shop was a one story clothiers named Mairwen’s Marvels near the center of town. Rowen was not to become her apprentice despite his affinity for patterns, his mother assured him that was women’s work and instead mentored a local girl. He often felt as though there were no real place for him.

Mairwen was patient with Rowen and supported his interests but extended a firm hand in discipline. Once Rowen came home with ripped clothes and a broken nose. She knew he had been fighting again and would not accept his excuse of defending the kitten that the older boy had taken it upon himself to torture behind the old barn by Heilyn Farm. So he spent the next few weeks dusting the old cupboard and sweeping the shop. No one ever believed him.

He knew that one day he would leave this place where all he really had were bad memories save for a few good friends. He wished to see the world. Beyond the forests and into the greater cities where mysteries abound. He would document it all right in his old book. Perhaps put it together in a story for future boys to dream about. He always thought that sounded pretty grand.
