The party meets Warbler, who walks out the woods after having watched them for a time to introduce himself. They make plans to move towards the Swan fort Warbler tells them of to see if any of their friends are held there, or if they can get info on their whereabouts.
They come across a covered wagon on the road with a mixed lot of Swans and non-Swans. Warbler turns into a mole, but encounters a scorpion en route and gets eviscerated, popping him out of the form and leaving him naked in the dirt amongst the Swans. They tie him to the wagon.
Most of the waiting team decides to continue south toward the fort, leaving the halfling to his own devices; Sav disagrees and heads north, following the Swan caravan to see what Warbler will do.
That night, Warbler Wild Shapes into a smaller form while nobody’s watching and skitters away. Meeting up with Sav, they turn into owls and fly after the others. Warbler tells them what he heard, which includes a report of the Red Bandanas being slaughtered in a village near Northgate; Vanja goes pale and walks off (as her brothers had been part of the Red Bandanas after being chased out of their village), and Sav attempts to comfort her with clumsy words.
