Reunions, Part 1
Northgate to Portsmouth
79 Winter 217 – 47 Spring 218
Campfire Synopsis from Ethan
Travel to Portsmouth was relatively smooth. The group of pirates and outlaws made their way southwest towards the port town without any major encounters. Making good time, they appeared to stay ahead of the ship’s former captain… assuming he was racing towards the ship at all.
The trip afforded the two groups an opportunity to learn more about one another as they traveled together. Avarian, the ship’s First Mate, appears reserved and somewhat wary of the new crew; he is a book that seems most comfortable remaining closed, at least for now. Athelia, by contrast, appears much more sociable and optimistic. Cheerful and engaging, her positive nature is a welcome asset to a group that has recently experienced so much loss.
Sav the sailor boyUpon arrival in Portsmith, Ethan is passed a note from an old beggar woman on the street - a coded message with the location to meet Astarael. He goes to the meeting while the rest of the crew make their own last minute preparations. Their ship is the only one left in the harbor and the group does not want to press their luck waiting around town.
Meeting up with Astarael in a rented room, she tells him what she knows of Kelwin and Danica; Ethan shares the unfortunate news of their troubles in Northgate and the loss of Lumotu and Vanja. Sav arrives soon after but the three depart for the ship without relaying all of the news again - there will be plenty of time to have that conversation once they are safely adrift, they reason.
Within a few hours of the group’s arrival, after a flurry of activity, the ship is ready to depart. Athelia, who’s face is the least infamous among the Inquisition/Swan army and who knows the most about navigating a ship, assumes the role as captain while the others disguise themselves as simple ship hands.
After a final inspection by the port marshals, the ship is ready to depart when a Swan soldier runs aboard. Out of breath, he tells the ship there is one last edition to their manifest. As with most of the other ships traveling south, so too will this one be transporting a small squad of soldiers.
And so it comes to pass that Athelia’s first official task as captain is to on-board five additional passengers: three Swan soldiers, one Swan officer, and one Inquisitor (riding one very familiar black horse) for a trip to Galoring.
