In the mountains
After some study, they come to the conclusion that this piece had been here for months, and the Swans had been here for days, with probably enough time to clear out whatever was here. It was a whole piece on its own, though, not a broken part of something else; perhaps it brought something else.
Sylas reaches into the past of the ruin, and has visions of a war, men and women with aasimar weapons fighting against shadowy figures that mimic the warriors, and a palace that overlooks the world, and a beam that shoots up and destroys the round moon. With some Minor Illusion time, they shape images of Anavyn’dralin and Silvyn’dralia, who Nurie’te names as such, and an airship with the name Dawnbreaker on the front. Sylas thinks this is ancient, older than the Calamity. Sav speculates wildly about time.
They break, and start moving toward a point of interest/power Astarael and Talith had sussed out. Sav writes a message for Aloysius to carry to Ethan, unciphered.
Everybody alive. Killed a Fade Beast. Found Kelwin, skyfolk ruin, trapped cannons; fucker got away with most stuff, we got a ball. Woke up Nurie’te. Saw some interesting things. Looking for source of taint, might’ve found it. Maybe 15-18 days until we’re back. P.S. rest of fort logs don’t have record of Long Winter docking there; logs end ~14 days before we got there. Must be close. Be careful. P.P.S. Aloysius can carry return message back.
The Feywild starts to fade into existence around them and Athelia realizes the fabric is thin here; she sings, anchoring their reality, and the last little fairy departs. Just before the Feywild fades, Sav snatches some flowers and dirt, and a wild-looking man with red hair stumbles toward them, with no memory of who he is or how long he’s been there, but he says he’s looking for his friends Tashka and Nysa and Zira. The half-translucent man presses a dirty, tangled puppet into Sav’s hands, and she gives him some potions of healing, oddly moved, before the real world fades back in.
Astarael attempts to make amends with Vanja and says she forgives her and does care about her, but Vanja is less than receptive to this framing.
On the *Beauty*
Ethan, Garth and Tarin have found supplies, but whatever happened, Garth and Tarin are now thoroughly freaked out by Ethan.
A warship, larger than the Beauty—the Trident—comes out of the mist, with Deren Lake with an eyepatch and Imago Weygarde at its prow. Tarin, Garth and Ethan escape to find the rest of the team, while the ship and the other three are captured.
