Revelation
Delk, Westwind, Ven, and On the River
20 Summer – 9 Autumn
Summer
Warbler tells Athelia and Avarian that he thinks the ship is alive and talking to him. Ethan tells Talith that he’s happy he’s back but kind of freaked out about it since, well, he was dead.
In Delk, a small two-dock town (which is slightly bigger than a one-horse town), they stay for three or so days to get some basic repairs done (though the mainmast can only be repaired in Westwind, a larger city down the way). Most of them freshen up their clothing and get supplies.
Ethan forges new papers for the Beauty, changing it to the Tide’s Song, a name Athelia chose based off a list Sylas doesn’t remember giving her.
Sylas still can’t sleep, despite trying to drink himself into a stupor in the Firewell Tavern.
Astarael and Talith go on a date and really weird out Martin, the bartender, when Talith at first thinks he’s trying to poison them with the ruby wine, then tips him 5gp in an attempt to smoothe over the fuss.
Roux runs into an old lover, which makes Sylas really miserable when they get the room next to him at the Firewell (not that he could sleep anyway).
Sylas and Talith both research books around myths or religions relating to death or the afterlife with a wealthy private book collector.
Ethan enters a bet with Martin on who can tell the wilder story; Martin speaks of the Thief King of Ven, while Ethan tells a story of a man who — you know what it’s a long story, short version is he goes on a rant about the weirdness of his life, then kills this mark for the Copper Blind that got away the first time in Last Harbor, and, as it turns out, did actually poison the wine.
Sylas finally gets an epiphany and, using Nurie’te and Talith’s constellation of the Champion, is flooded with innumerable visions and learns:
- pieces of previous stories that all led to this moment;
- a potential future, seen by a feminine figure filled with stars, of Danica and a blond elven woman in black armor running toward a black spire that reaches toward the sky;
- the aasimar fought against an ancient, corrupting, destroying and enslaving empire, which they called the Beast with a Thousand Eyes; they sacrificed themselves to stop it
- the world was hidden from the Beast, and was found by Danica’s mother, Anavyn’dralin, pursued by a Fade Beast, which was merely a foot soldier of the empire; she fought it with a number of the parents/relatives of the AC kids, and even Inquisitor Sylas
- Danica’s true-name, Theravyn’dralin
- The aasimar cried out for help to the Octurne a long, long time ago, and it finally answered
- the fallen star was probably meant for Danica, and held something for her, but Kelwin/the Swans got there first and took what was inside, which was likely something powerful
- They need to stop the Baroness before she figures out how to use what she got; if they can, Sav may be able to figure out the puzzle to reach the Octurne
- They have to save Danica Thorne
Then he passes out in his own vomit.
Roux asks Athelia about her ability to pass beings through to the Feywild, and that he may need to go there after all this is done; he thinks he saw his mother there. It also turns out a wayward fairy sneaked back here in his backpack.

Autumn
Carter Blackwood, by Kate QuimbyThe ship sails on, gets its mainmast repaired in Westwind, and arrives in Ven. There, Ethan loses a shoe and finds out the true identity of the Thief King of Ven: Maude, Lumotu’s pet goose from Aelorean’s Crossing, and Roger, Danica’s pet badger who just loves tearing apart shoes.
Everyone throws Roux a surprise birthday party, but it’s interrupted by cannonfire. They find three wrecked ships, formerly Painted Swan ones now changed to have the swan carry a rose in its beak, with one lone survivor: Carter. She tells them that they’re a movement who disagree with the route the Baroness is taking the country and thought to ambush this lone Swan ship they found, but it destroyed them right quick with fire and lightning from clear skies, and sailed onward. It was called the Long Winter.
