A perennially-cheerful halfling whose father was the gravedigger of the town of Aelorean’s Crossing. Always had a story and a chipper outlook. Found a sphere that he swore glowed in the mines of the town. Had a staff that would come alive and eat people, despite his best efforts.

Lumotu Musket is much too busy with fantasy to let a little reality get in his way. His ability to see the best in anyone or any situation has a strange habit of magically becoming reality.

A keeper and teller of all things legend and lore, Lumotu believes all of the myths he’s been told (and all of the ones he thinks up). Those aren’t leaves pinned to him and his friends’ tunics, they’re Brooches of Heroism. That splotchy patterned stick in his belt? That’s Shasseth, the Giant Moray Eel that shapeshifts into a staff. The dirty tablecloth around his neck? His Cloak of Invisibility.

The precocious Halfling is easily the shortest and youngest of the Aelorean’s Crossing refugees. His courageous heart and laughably positive attitude hasn’t been marred by the journey north.

Season 12 - Inquisition

Currently in hiding after the death of Garbon and the burning of the Roasted Swan, Lumotu has been caring for the children at Granny’s Orphanage. He knew first hand that being an orphan didn’t have to feel lonely or hopeless. His parents wedding rings on a leather cord around his neck were a warm reminder that they were never far from him, no matter where this journey took him.

Every night, he gathers the children up for one of the fantastic stories that his father used to tell him, and sends them to sleep with the lullabies his mother used to sing for him.

Was kidnapped by Kelwin in late 217 on the way back from Rog Hodun, and although eventually rescued, went astray in Vanja’s River-aided journey back to Northgate. Was not found before the conspirators left the city. When Vanja was exiled from the Tide’s Song, the condition of her leaving alive was swearing an oath under Zone of Truth to return north and try to find Lumotu.

Season 13 - Shepherd’s End

In Season 13, rumors of a red-headed necromancer, a one-eyed man, and a cheerful blond priest traveling through Lux abounded, catching the attention of the Verdicts.

Samsel traveled with Vanja and Lumotu for a time, which has somehow not come up in the presence of those who knew either of them yet.

Starting Bio

Lumotu is much too busy with fantasy to let a little reality get in his way. Those aren’t river stones on a string around his neck, it’s his magical amulet of warding. That stick in his belt? That’s the legendary blade of the famed mountain vandal. Everywhere he looks, he sees the fantastic, the wondrous, the legendary.

His father Jasper was the source of most of these fantasies. A tin miner and gravedigger, he knew he couldn’t provide a rich lifestyle for his only child, and stoked his imagination to make sure he was never bored. The tall tales of fantastic beasts and epic confrontations over legendary artifacts would surely carry his son to a better life than his, and Lumotu believed them whole-heartedly.

His mother Pepper stoked Lumotu’s fantasies as well, but not as intentionally. As a fortune teller, she saw locals and travellers alike at the family home. Lumotu would eavesdrop when a particularly interesting client came by. He wasn’t trying to gossip; in fact, because he only remembered his romanticized versions of the stories he heard, you may not have even believed they were real, let alone recognized who they were about.

When asked to actually do work, Lumotu distracts himself by imagining himself in a fantastic scenario instead. Moving firewood could feel like he’s stoking the flames of a great forge while an expert blacksmith repairs his shattered breastplate. Tracking deer could turn into a quest for a storied shapeshifter. He’s always a little disappointed when adults make him focus on the reality of situations like these. Why set traps for racoons when you could defend the forest against miniature bandits?

His unkempt mop of light brown hair just barely makes him taller than two and a half feet. Most of his friends are human or half-elf, further emphasizing that he’s one of the shortest and youngest in the group. With a kind and courageous heart and laughably positive attitude, Lumotu is ready for any adventure that befalls him and his fellowship.
