Discourse
The Rebel Islands & Galoring
54 Autumn
Danica has a dream of Bax and tells Roux she misses him. Roux assures her they’ll get him back, and also he saw his mom in the Feywild.
Sylas tells Carter he doesn’t remember much of the Feywild, but what he does is horrifying; he’s tired of being special, but he’s finally learned to accept himself, even if he’s not thrilled about it. He says he plans to go to the Octurne, and then after that to Moraeth, as it feels like there’s something there he needs to look into.
Carter and Ethan have a chat, through the medium of Sav, about Baric Ion Tashal (Ellie’s betrothed) and the politics of the situation. Ethan reveals he’ll probably try to attend the wedding as a servant, and they go over some of the customs and expectations of that role.
Warbler tells Talith about the Suffering’s priests, and that they’re recruiting pilgrims to go to Moraeth.
Ethan (in disguise) ambushes Ellie under a bridge, knocking out her bodyguard with some difficulty, and they catch up. Ellie’s been told a lot of bullshit, of course, including that Ethan was dead. Their sister Victoria saved Ion’s life, and Ion promised to take care of Ellie since he owed Victoria a debt; then Victoria has been gone for a year. He tells her Roland is dead and he’s obviously still alive, then takes her coin purse and tells her to pretend she’s been robbed, and to forget the conversation and try to enjoy life, lol. She collapses and starts crying as he leaves.
Sylas and York swear a blood oath to each other that they’re both real, and Sylas complains about the cake.
Sylas tells Danica that Bax’s soul is still out there, that he serves the Raven Queen in the Pale Lands, and they’ve had some illuminating conversations. In his time scrambling through the Feywild, he came to the conclusion of who he needs to be, and that he needed to right the wrongs that came from his creation, including telling the truth about Bax’s location. Danica’s power flares and she yanks Bax’s soul back through the constellation of the Hunter into his old (now even older, with additions) body, yeeting Sylas somewhere unknown. Bax, in a panic, demands for it to be undone, but she doesn’t have a link to Sylas like she did to Bax through the constellation. When Bax attempts to appeal to the Raven Queen, he hears only silence.
