A heavenly body, octahedral in shape, that reappeared suddenly in the night sky in the Year 212 of the Itharian calendar, along with all the stars in the sky. Not coincidentally, a handful of children in the small village of Aelorean’s Crossing gain constellations on their body that give them magical powers.

Nurie’te, the Aasimar construct the witches’ conspiracy rescued from a Swan caravan outside of Northgate, called it the Citadel.

The witches Teleported up into the Octurne after taking down Tyr Isendel in Autumn Year 218 and found it broken inside and shaking itself apart, seething with constructs building up an enormous white tower. At the top of the tower they found Aluvyn’dralor, the corrupted king of the aasimar. The Octurne disintegrated into pieces and fell to the earth after they discovered him, and the White Tower fell to the earth some miles from Northgate.

Season 12 Background

It was said in myth that once the black night sky was filled with the light of a thousand stars and a thousand more and each of them a blessing on the world. It is said too in myth that once the shattered moon was a thing made whole and there upon it lived the gods.

These were merely tales for children… until the night the stars returned.

It was in the late summer of the year 212 the stars appeared in the night sky with neither warning nor explanation, and with them came a great mystery, an octahedral structure of white stone where once long ago had been the moon — It is called the Octurne.

Seen from Northgate, the Octurne follows the same path as the fragments of the shattered moon and each completes an orbit around the world precisely once each year, with the structure highest and most visible in the northern sky in the late winter, which is also the time when it is seen to be the most full — during this time it can be seen both during the day and at night and touches the horizon in mid afternoon and climbs to it highest point in the sky in the evening. Meanwhile, the Octurne is only glimpsed on the horizon at the height of the day during the summer months.

The structure also seems to rotate on its own axis and completes a rotation once per Turn (month).

A variety of cults have emerged to accompany the appearance of the stars and the Octurne, breathing new life into old and nearly forgotten myths. There are many who claim that Octurne is the city of the Old Gods and that the stars themselves herald their return to the world. The Observatory near Northgate constructed for the study of the shattered moon has become a place of pilgrimage for those interested in the study of the stars and the Octurne itself.

Season 14

This world’s history contains sparse reference to the existence of the Octurne, but the arrival of the Octurne is not an explicit part of the history understood in this world. Rather, the City of Aseraphal predates recorded history with no record of the city’s construction.
