Shepherd’s End
Autumn 46
Kibeth and Aureya start the Cult of the World Forge, Shepherd's End chapter. (by Jessica Dru)Esmund blows up at the people who went into the ruins, because they just hared off and now four people are dead; they defend themselves vigorously, arguing they had to investigate the tunnels since they’d be away for a while and needed to figure out if it was dangerous.
Aureya tells Kibeth about the forge-god she read about, and somehow convinces her to give a blood sacrifice to the forge. It responds really well to it. Aureya convinces Kibeth to reach out to it, slashing her palm, and the blood turns into flames that don’t hurt. Aureya suggests tossing a body into the forge, but they don’t follow up on this.
Esmund goes to question the kobolds with Kaisi as interpreter; Kaisi starts to threaten them and, when he won’t listen to Esmund to stop, Esmund tries to Shock him. Ashamed at the impulse, Esmund runs. Peach and Aureya follow. Esmund reveals that he thinks something he did caused the puddings to come out and destroy the village, and now he can’t make decisions, because he feels he only makes bad ones. Aureya tries to convince him that he’s not at fault for unanticipated consequences. She has to try and convince him two separate times to stop taking so much responsibility on himself. Unsure if either time takes.
