They rest, recover, and signal the other survivors.
Samsel regains consciousness and tells them her story. She and the other Digsmen were hired to go north, ended up in a place called Sarethin and traveled south to the Shivercourt. Deren, Vanja and Lumotu had been traveling with them; Deren left them and traveled south, while Vanja, Lumotu and the Digsmen stayed, trying to help people at the Shivercourt with the Lord of Plenty, an ancient flesh-eating, blood-drinking monster made long ago and turned the place into a shadowed land. (The undead arrived later, though.) Eventually Vanja and Lumotu left, suspecting something, and later the Digsmen followed, unable to do anything against the Lord of Plenty. She also saw an army mustering outside of Sarethin.
Xalati, Samsel, and Aureya go back to the square to burn Samsel’s fallen Digsmen.
BRAMBLEHORN (by Jessica Dru)Survivors arrive at the inn, led by an elderly minotaur with an artificial leg: Briggs Bramblehorn! He tells them a little of their survival story. About 90 survivors in total arrive, mostly children, the elderly and the wounded.
Fall 64
Esmund helps Briggs with his prosthetic; Briggs knows of the Clockwrights and Esmund’s sisters, Tik and Tok, having visited Shepherd’s End a long time ago.
Aureya offers to remove the curse on Ava’s jewelry, but Ava refuses even though she doesn’t like it; it’s given her important, useful abilities that have let her help the others in ways she wouldn’t have been able to.
