The Observatory in the mountains outside of Northgate
Autumn 216

“Emma?”

The name echoed around the empty interior of the observatory. Sav desisted from calling any further. It was pointless. She’d made three laps around the tower already, and there was no sign of the girl or her belongings.

She’d come to make some further observations of the Octurne and continue her mapping of the stars, but it seemed suddenly draining and pointless, now. She forced herself to do so, anyway. The presence of the other girl or not made no difference to her plans for the evening.

So she told herself. Yet she knew that it did. Despite herself, tears blurred her vision, and dark, salty spots splashed and widened on the notes she took.
