The Market area of Dustown
85 Autumn 217, just after the parting of ways after defeating Hampton
Astarael wanders off into the darkened streets of Northgate, leaving Talith behind. Sav had dashed off a few minutes before, and already there was no sign of her. Very few people are out at this late hour, but out of an abundance of caution, she turns herself invisible, to avoid any unwanted meetings with Painted Swans.
She should be exhausted, after everything they went through that night. But her heart is still racing from the danger they had just faced. She could still feel the sensation of the power flowing from her hand, arcing through the air into that horrid beast they had faced. The three of them had been surrounded by worshipers of the Suffering, retreat was near impossible, Talith on the brink of death. If something had broken her concentration, if her power had faltered… it could have ended up much worse.
Astarael finds herself wandering through the streets, going over what happened. She knows if she were to go home, it would be a long while before her mind would rest. So, she was amused to discover her absent walking has brought her to another place that has become familiar. A certain blacksmith’s stall, not too far from her home. Where a certain handsome young blacksmith’s apprentice lived.
She slips through the back gate of the yard, and stashes her weapons behind the shed. After becoming visible again, she looks herself over to make sure she doesn’t look like someone who was engaged in combat in the sewers not long ago, and walks over to a door on the back of the larger building. She gently knocks on the back door, loud enough for the occupant to hear, but not so loud as to wake anyone in the main house. After a moment, a sleepy eyed man opens the door a little, and upon recognizing Astarael, opens the door wider with a grin on his face. She smiles back, and neither saying a word, he grabs her by the arm and quickly pulls her into the room, shutting the door behind her.
