Ava "Doc" Porter

Ava Porter, commonly called Doc by her peers; a quiet human girl (a rare species; the Porters are the only human family in Shepherd’s End), assistant to Physicker Teredian. Meek but sharp in observation, especially after she got saddled with a cursed circlet that gave her especially keen senses, to the detriment of her quality of life. Took to wearing an owl mask with smoked-glass lenses and a beak stuffed with scented herbs to muffle the overwhelming nature of the world around.
Became inspired to be a physicker after her younger brother Wesley was killed by a maddened boar. Best friends with Xalati based on both having dead siblings (hey, there are shakier foundations).
Among the bag of cursed objects found by the children in the dwarven mines, she took a circlet that gave her especially-keen senses.
Divined what the blue jelly chicken was up to and, with Esmund, worked out a way to partially shield someone against its lightning blasts to distract from Aureya planting dynamite to blow it up.
Operated on Verdict Vathedrian to replace his arm with an automechanical one, which stood him decently well until his ailing old heart couldn’t take it any more and he died near Myrwood.
Figured out an incredibly-risky way to try and get an incubating jelly out of a person and still save the person.
With Seyfried, popped into the Between to avoid getting crushed by a falling giant auronachus and encountered just a brush of the Angel of Doors’ presence.
Shredded just tons of zombies and accidentally juiced up a bunch of friendly pumpkin creatures.
Ended up Banishing Ixtalan back to the Pale Lands shortly before the Breaking.
Has not been seen post-Breaking, though references to an Owl Woman and a mask very like hers was seen in Endergaln.
