Xalati Katya Vekhir
Age 18 Born 72 Fall, 1001 AC Species Yuan-ti Height 6’1” Gender Female Origin Shepherd’s End, The Kingdom of Lux Appeared Season 13 - Shepherd’s End
Tall, dark and jacked, a low-key genius with a polearm and a threatening aura, mom friend of the age-mates.
The oldest remaining daughter of Ximal Vekhir and Michka Imet, her twin sister died at ten on their maiden voyage at sea with their mother, eaten by an enormous whale-like creature she would later learn was a Deeplurker. She became far too paranoid and parentified in the intervening time, stepping up to take the place of her grieving father and absent mother. At first wary of the new family that her father’s remarriage to Oria Cadne brought, she acclimated to the changes and developed a good relationship with Oria’s children, solidified once Ximal and Oria had children together.
When magic failed, puddings attacked the town and Doors started opening up, Xalati picked up the spear and learned she had a talent for weaponswork. She managed to scare off a great auronachus from what remained of Shepherd’s End, and bargained with the Deeplurker to give her back her memories of her sister if she made sure her friends open the Door back to its home plane. (It did not, but it gave her a riddle in exchange.)
During a trip to Myrwood, when the children got sucked into an alternate version of Myrwood, she got left behind in their rapid shifts between planes as they were making their way back out and remained behind in the Place Between.
When Ixtalan attempted to trade places with Xalati using the equipment in the Stone Tower and Esmund’s help, she and Xalati shared a psychic moment on a beach from home, as children, where Ixtalan tried to communicate a lot in a little time; Xalati refused to swap, realizing what Ixtalan was attempting to do and preferring to stay there rather than return Ixtalan to the Place Between.
She later died to the Angel of Doors while protecting Salinger Morel and Peach Pine in the Place Between.
