Reunion
Day 12, Month 5, 919 of the 9th Era
Various, but most importantly Ivakar’s Passage
Salinger emerges from Whiteness into a river between two towns, where an old man approaches and calls him a Returner, and gives him a choice which shore to go to. Salinger starts to walk down the middle, but eventually veers to the right, toward Kendall’s Forge, where eventually he builds a life.
Talith has been here for a time as well, living in an area called Otterdell, occasionally training guards and collecting dirt?
Peach wakes in the middle of a snowfield, and eventually makes her way to a house and various towns, where she works for room and board and learns a little of this new world.
Mosrael dreams of her past life amongst the Briarbirds, and wakes in her bunk in the back of her little apothecary’s wagon.
Bax appears in the world and travels loosely for about two months, before staying in one village for four months, helping them against predators and training them to defend themselves.
A thin pale-haired boy with pale eyes tells his sister he Dreamed of them again.
Sav approaches the town of Ivakar’s Passage and gets a strange feeling of recognition as they approach it. After some inquiry and mending, they make their way to the Wiggle and Squeal and meet Peach; both immediately get the same feeling of recognition and pressure. A commotion outside draws them out, where some soldiers have collapsed and Mosrael is tending them. Rae recognizes Sav, as they knew each other as children in Galoring; all three of the Returned get the same feeling of pressure and recognition from their dreams the first time they see each other. Peach reveals she knew Esmund. They all agree to stick together, and after reports of a big blue firbolg in the mountains and following the Pull that’s drawing them westward, they decide to travel into the mountains of the Daggered Spine.
In he mountains, Salinger is stuck in a frozen-over cave. He hears impacts, and it shatters open, revealing someone who looks very much like Sylas. Sal immediately shoulder-checks him.
Peach, Mosrael and Sav go on Mosrael-back (which weirds the other two out) into the mountains and come across a scene of carnage, then follow the tracks of survivors leading away. They arrive just as a thin, pale young man dies, and feel the same sense of connection they’d had with each other flicker and die as he does. They meet the rest of the party—Merrick, Caspeid and Squire, the last of whom twitches at Sav’s accent—who tell them a giant monster attacked, and they ran while Icana held them off.
A roar rises, and then the sound of battle. They run toward it and find Talith fighting a snow troll.
