Assassin, schemer. Has a propensity for baking and false identities. Notably a magical void in all regards, including being hidden/invisible to many forms of magic. Arguably the greenest eyes ever seen.

Once had four siblings (Roland, Erik, Victoria, Ellie, all older and mostly bigger). Now has none (that we know of).

Season 10

Ethan Fairchild - Starting Bio

One of five children, Ethan was the black sheep of his family. His father and older brothers were towering figures in the small village of Aeloran’s Crossing — in part because of their work in the town’s mine, but mostly because each of them were intimidating in size and manner. Ethan is only average height and showed little interest or ability to follow in the family’s profession. After being fired from his job at the mines, Ethan was sent to live with his aging, reclusive uncle who lived on the outskirts of town.

15-year-old Ethan, by Moe Balinger15-year-old Ethan, by Moe BalingerEthan was not well regarded around the community, largely because of a infamous business venture called Small Potatoes:

Taking pity on the boy, two of his neighbors agreed to donate their tiny eggs and runt potatoes to help feed him. Ethan cooked and sold these for profit. Once they discovered they were manipulated, the neighbors were furious. Once his family caught wind of the scheme, they destroyed the makeshift food stand.

Afterwards, Ethan mostly kept his head down, eventually getting a job at an inn where his friend, Talith, worked as a bar-back.

When the Swans raided Aelorean’s Crossing, Ethan escaped capture and hid in the nearby woods with several of his friends. They survived the winter (with the help and guidance of a dubious bandit named Rye) and eventually reclaimed what was left of their town, killing all but one of the Baroness’ men — Captain Kelwin; Kelwin escaped after kidnapping Danica’s fathers.

In the aftermath of their bloody victory, Ethan shared a discovery with the others — a painting hidden away in his uncle’s house, one that connected many of the families in ways that none of the children could understand. Bonded by shared sacrifice, and with no where else to go, he and his friends traveled north following scant leads to uncover the mystery that connected them.

Along the way, the children worked together to make ends meet and to earn enough coin to afford the journey north. Ethan struggled to earn enough to make meaningful contributions until the group moved to Last Harbor — the infamous city without laws. There, Ethan discovered a dark talent and began working (in secret) as an assassin.

After one particularly difficult job (the target was a notoriously vile man and there was little reward for his death), Ethan discovered a magical ring. The ring held the soul of the man Ethan just killed, a man who’s real name was Paderson Bishop. Bishop saw potential in Ethan and began training him in a more formal way to perfect his skills as an assassin.

Since encountering Bishop, Ethan has become much more selective in his targets. He no longer kills for money, instead there is a morality that guides his process for selecting targets.

Season 11

During his time in Northgate, Ethan made (and lost) a small fortune as well as several connections around the city. Despite the ups and downs, he was mostly safe and contented with his new adoptive family, waiting within the city while Danica and Rowen made their way further north — returning, hopefully, with more answers and a new direction for the reunited group to move on to.

Then his life was upended again.

Ethan returned to find the group’s home inexplicably surrounded by Swan soldiers and engulfed in flames. He watched as Garbon was murdered by The Wolf. He and the other survivors fled, losing track of one another as they escaped.

Season 12

Since Garbon’s death, Ethan established new connections and identities, earning money and laying the ground work to find and reunite with his surviving friends, avenge Garbon’s death, and eventually execute his new target — the recently arrived Grand Inquisitor.

Instigator of the witch conspiracy against Tyr Isendel. Did kill the Grand Inquisitor. Kill-stole Tyr Isendel, at least her first form. Lost a brother. Lost a sister. Gained a lover.

At a Glance

Ethan Fairchild is a young half elf. He has thick, brown hair and green eyes. He has a radiant smile and an infectious laugh but, aside from this, his features are so mundane that his description sounds like most anyone.

There is grace and confidence in his movement, but an unusual—if subtle—watchfulness in his gaze. His manner is an odd combination of optimism and sadness; like the class clown who’s been handed very bad news, where there is nothing left to laugh about.

He is a skilled rogue, adept at infiltration and incredibly lethal to unsuspecting targets.

Season 14

Returned to the world about 15 years ago and, after being repeatedly thwarted in finding his way to the White Tower and finding Danica, took up with the Relicors to try and get in legitimately. Went by the name “Squire” initially.

In Endergaln, currently running a private investigator outfit and goes by the name Ethan Thorne.
