Season 10
Child of a hunter and tanner in Aelorean’s Crossing. Received the constellation of the Hunter in his right eye from Danica Thorne. Captured by Kelwin and tortured to use as bait to lure the other children into the village. Departed with the rest to travel north to Rinsfeld, Last Harbor, and Northgate.
Once when Bax had asked his father, Abram Demir, if they had always lived in Aelorean’s Crossing, he had said no. Attempts to pry further only ever earned a stern look from Abram or a swift change in subject. Though this never bothered Bax too much, as this town was all he knew, and he was content with that.
Despite himself, he couldn’t help but feel as though he and his father were outcasts at times. Abram was a tanner, and elected to have their home far from everyone else, on the border of the surrounding forest as the smells of the chemicals and drying hides was something dreadful. They were also quite poor; a tanner in their region did not earn much pay. So Bax would often wear well worn or poorly patched together clothing. This only added to the vague sense of outcast he didn’t fully understand.
Due to their financial status, Abram taught his son the means of survival from a young age. It was in the woods around his home where Bax was taught to hunt and forage.
When the Swans invaded their home, Bax found himself living out in the woods with several of his surviving friends. They were provided training by a small group of bandits known as the Red Bandanas; the bandits leader, Rye, took a particular interest in the group of children.
It was during this time Bax discovered his knack for living in the wild, and began to hone his tracking and fighting skills. Having captured a lone Swan soldier, he and his friends brought the man back to camp to attempt to convert him to their side, only to be met with the stubborn will of a soldier. Having been the one to suggest bringing the soldier back to their camp, Bax took responsibility for the next step, as they all knew they couldn’t let him go. It was at this time that Bax truly began to understand his father’s old mantra, “Respect the Hunt.” Bax slew the soldier, dumping the body in a river; he has worn a cover or eyepatch over his right eye since that day.
Later in the winter, it was discovered that the number of soldiers in the village was not as grand as they thought. So a plan was put into motion to take Aelorean’s Crossing back. The first step was to survey the town and confirm the number of remaining soldiers. Unfortunately, Bax had become too confident in his abilities and was caught. In the short time between his capture and rescue, Bax was beaten and tortured by Swan soldiers led by Captain Kelwin. He was left out in the town square, a noose around his neck and a pike under each foot, as bait to lure his friends. He was rescued fortunately, but not before the noose burned a pattern into his neck, and the pikes tore through the backs of his legs. Kelwin escaped, and to this day, if he ponders on the captain for too long, Bax can feel the savage scars on the backs of his legs burn…
Aelorean’s Crossing was abandoned. The children left with a small group of surviving villagers and traveled north. The villagers dissipated in time, until it was only the children left, as they continued on, searching for vague clues to a mystery Bax didn’t fully comprehend.
Season 11
In Northgate, Bax made friends and potential allies. The Lionsfell Hunting Guild introduced him to other like-minded hunters. The city also provided him place he could call home. And though he would always prefer the outdoors, there was something nice about having a place you could always return to.
And then it was stolen. Their home, the Roasted Swan, in flames. And their friend Garbon, slain by The Wolf.
The survivors were forced to scatter, and Bax left for the forest north of the city. In the following year, Bax honed his skills further. He picked on small Swan caravans, and made allies of the tribesman of Jorung.
At a Glance
When he was younger, the human Bax Demir would often be described by the adults of Aelorean’s Crossing as a feral dirt child. If you were to say as much to him, he would ask what “feral” meant.
Looking past the dirt, you would find dark auburn hair and even darker brown eyes. If not for the eyepatch covering his right eye and two prominent scars, one across his lips and another crossing his left eyebrow, he would be difficult to pick out of a crowd.
He carries himself with a sense of unease walking through a city, as if he is uncomfortable; always looking for a means of escape. Though he attempts to feign confidence so as to not be picked on for his height. Social norms are confusing, and so he will speak his mind openly, often without realizing the potential social faux pas he breaks.
What he lacks in social grace, he more than makes up for in his tenacity on the battlefield. The wild is his domain, and his small stature allows him to move with a speed and ferocity that only a true hunter could.
Season 12
Was part of the initial conspiracy of witches against the Painted Swan. Was revealed to be the Yeti of Jorung, and gained control over it with the help of his friends. Gave up his soul in exchange for Roux’s life. Really hustled in just 15 episodes.
Was revealed to be working for the Raven Queen in his time away. In the meantime, his body became a soul-sucking void until all the souls crystallized into Sylas.
Got yanked back to the world when Danica missed him too much and reeled him back via their tie through the constellation of the Hunter. Was made Ranger Warden of the Northern Wilds by Baron Alistair-Lin Isendel and departed Galoring very soon after helping to depose Tyr Isendel.
Season 14
Appearance
Standing at 6ft tall, Bax disarms most folks with a welcoming personality and an affable charm. While traveling, he wears loose fitting clothing featuring a dark, long sleeve shirt, with a dark green tunic over that with gold highlights that buttons up to the neck. He wears a crystal teal scarf wrapped around his waist that can double as a head scarf, dark trousers and shin high black leather boots. He wears an old breastplate over the tunic and a fur lined dark gray cloak over all that. Hanging across the chest of his breastplate is a brooch; a pendant designed to look like a sword crossed over a leaf.
He has a terra-cotta skin tone and dark ochre colored hair. His body, marked by numerous scars earned over the years, is a cut, athletic build, trained for survivability against the elements and enemies. His left eye is dark brown while his right eye appears to be a void of space, featuring lights and colors reminiscent of the night sky lost long ago, with a series of prominent stars creating the constellation of the Hunter where his pupil would be. His right arm features a dark blue tattoo, from the wrist to the shoulder, that depicts a massive tower reaching towards the sky surrounded by countless stars; upon closer inspection, the details of the tattoo reveal the stars to actually be eyes. Whenever they are looked at directly, the viewer feels a terrible sense of unease, as though the eyes have turned their gaze towards them. Though he doesn’t remember his actual age, guessing maybe 19 or 20 years, he appears roughly a decade older than he is, with dark rings under his eyes.
He carries various weapons and tools, including a shortbow and silvered dagger, but prominently battles with either his Frost Forged Spear, an ancient looking weapon with a glowing blue gem at the base of the blade, or the Glasswood Spear, made of a beautiful white wood that features gold and silver inlays and has a ethereal aura to it. In battle, he moves like a predator, keeping his center of gravity low to better allow quick movements, with narrowed eyes, trained to look for weaknesses or ample opportunities to strike.
Doings
Appeared about 6-8 months before the start of the prologue. Trained villagers in need of defense against wild creatures. Eventually traveled to the Daggered Spine following the strange Pull, where he found the other Dreamers. After fighting trolls, trekking through caves and fighting dragonborn and Summit, he fled with the rest on the Clockwright airship to Endergaln, where he found himself uneasy and out of place in a large city of industry.
He would often go out hunting in the wilds around the city, hauling back monsters for pay, alchemical products or simply to eat. Once left the city to investigate the dragonborn in the mountains more, but found out little beyond that the dragonborn cults believed Summit had woken due to a falling star.
