First Hand of the Moon.

One of the two Aasimar associated with the moons, before their destruction. Aluvyn’dralia and Silvyn’dralia took different methods to protect the world. Alu’vyndralia was a guardian and shepherd of mortals, until her fortress was attacked by forces of the First Night and she fell to the world and lost her memories. She lived as the priestess Vyndra until regaining her memories upon her mortal death. She later abandoned this world for another.

The Octurne appeared in the sky in the summer of 212 in precisely the place the moon once hung, surrounded now by its broken fragments.

Ancient myth suggests the moon was destroyed by in a battle between Aluvyn’dralia and the First Night by a weapon called the Spear of Silvereen, during the Battle of Silvereen in the Kingdom of Ensilvarn.

There used to be two. One fell. Then there was one. Then that one was blown up by Silvyn’dralia.

It is said in myth that once the night was filled by two great silver spheres upon which lived the gods, but in a time beyond memory they were struck from the sky. The remains of the moon are fragments that form a ring around the world and the large sections give some indication of where the moon once hung in the sky.

Post-Breaking, Returned who have persistent dreams of Lil’lith and Esmund, along with a number of other faces familiar and non-, and a pull in a specific (same) direction (toward the Shard of the Aasimar Confluence, as it turns out). Occasionally, but without apparent pattern, they’ll pop out of existence, and sometimes return later with no memory of the time in between, but will still reappear in the same place as other Returned.

Thus far, all known (living) Dreamers are also marked with a small freckle-like star somewhere on their body that flares up when a Dreamer pops back into existence. Said star (as well as the constellation that marks Talith and Bax) pulses with a faint pattern that seems like a reflection of other energies going on, but kind of matches what showed when Esmund appeared to Gwin.

It is unknown if non-Dreamer Returned have a star.

Theravyn’dralin, Last Hand of the Stars. The last aasimar. She was raised by her fathers to believe she was a mortal girl, until becoming old enough to learn the truth.

Season 11

Grew up in Aelorean’s Crossing, raised by Eirlys and Consus Thorne unknowing of the full extent of her heritage, only told that she was found at the site of a falling star. When the Painted Swans and Kelwin come to town, they do so in pursuit of her mother Ana and end up capturing Danica temporarily. The children and Rye drove off Kelwin at the cost of Consus’s capture, and discovered that Anavyn’dralin was the last her kin and sacrificed herself to create Danica with the love of Consus and Eirlys.

The children traveled north tracking Caern Baleburn and Al’Rowan, and Danica went north into Jorung with Sireli and Rowen via smuggler to follow their trail, while the others remained behind in Northgate.

Season 12

Returning after over a year of absence to join the Conspiracy against the Inquisition, Danica shared the news of Rowen and Sireli’s deaths with the other Aelorean’s Crossing kids.

On the way back from Rog Hodun, Danica was captured by Kelwin in an ambush, along with Paloma Shale and Lumotu and taken south down the river toward Galoring, inspiring the rest to chase after. Escaped during the battle of the Long Winter and killed Kelwin. She was killed in turn a few weeks later by Holland Blackwood in dragon form, but mysteriously returned to life with the power of Anavyn’dralin’s remaining wing feathers and an extraterrestrial being. With the perspective offered by death, realized confessing her feelings for Ethan wasn’t so bad after all.

Reunited with Consus on a secret hideout of the Briarbirds, learned Bax was somewhere out there after Sylas confessed they’d talked to him and knew he still existed, yoinked him back through their connection through the constellation of the Hunter (commensurately yeeting Sylas into the ether). Participated in the strike on the Cathedral and Tyr Isendel and went up to the Octurne with the rest to discover Aluvyn’dralor.

Season 13

During the year between the fall of the Octurne and the Breaking of the world, traveled up north with Ethan and the army of Isendel to investigate the Veil and traveled into it, beyond communication with anyone outside of the Veil. Last seen flying toward an army of angels descending from the White Tower.

Once Esmund Clockwright’s familiar, turned into a spy and now become a mouthpiece of the angels.

Ancient enemy of the Aasimar, likely corruptor of them into the Angels given the squid faces the angels now sport. Their empire was also known as the Beast of a Thousand Eyes, metaphorically. Famously psychic corruptors who enslaved all they encountered. The Fade Beasts are their tools.

One was found imprisoned half-dead beneath the Galoring Cathedral, captured by Tyr Isendel in one of the aasimar ruins with others that were supposed to be held in chambers (but the magic sustaining them failed and they were dead).

Note

Pris note: I forget what happened to it - did it teleport away? Was it killed?

Ancient references exist that speak of the illithid, describing them (and also calling them mindflayers), and mentioning a floating island called Xerastul’n.

Rhun Enkerig has told the Dreamers something of his life growing up as a slave to the illithid, overthrowing them and their Elder Brain, and about ceremorphosis.

Aluvyn’dralia was a guardian and shepherd of mortals, where Silvyn’dralia harnessed a dark and malicious magic to hide the world from the Beast of a Thousand Eyes (but also subject the world to a marginally less evil darkness).

???

A heavenly body, octahedral in shape, that reappeared suddenly in the night sky in the Year 212 of the Itharian calendar, along with all the stars in the sky. Not coincidentally, a handful of children in the small village of Aelorean’s Crossing gain constellations on their body that give them magical powers.

Nurie’te, the Aasimar construct the witches’ conspiracy rescued from a Swan caravan outside of Northgate, called it the Citadel.

The witches Teleported up into the Octurne after taking down Tyr Isendel in Autumn Year 218 and found it broken inside and shaking itself apart, seething with constructs building up an enormous white tower. At the top of the tower they found Aluvyn’dralor, the corrupted king of the aasimar. The Octurne disintegrated into pieces and fell to the earth after they discovered him, and the White Tower fell to the earth some miles from Northgate.

Season 12 Background

It was said in myth that once the black night sky was filled with the light of a thousand stars and a thousand more and each of them a blessing on the world. It is said too in myth that once the shattered moon was a thing made whole and there upon it lived the gods.

These were merely tales for children… until the night the stars returned.

It was in the late summer of the year 212 the stars appeared in the night sky with neither warning nor explanation, and with them came a great mystery, an octahedral structure of white stone where once long ago had been the moon — It is called the Octurne.

Seen from Northgate, the Octurne follows the same path as the fragments of the shattered moon and each completes an orbit around the world precisely once each year, with the structure highest and most visible in the northern sky in the late winter, which is also the time when it is seen to be the most full — during this time it can be seen both during the day and at night and touches the horizon in mid afternoon and climbs to it highest point in the sky in the evening. Meanwhile, the Octurne is only glimpsed on the horizon at the height of the day during the summer months.

The structure also seems to rotate on its own axis and completes a rotation once per Turn (month).

A variety of cults have emerged to accompany the appearance of the stars and the Octurne, breathing new life into old and nearly forgotten myths. There are many who claim that Octurne is the city of the Old Gods and that the stars themselves herald their return to the world. The Observatory near Northgate constructed for the study of the shattered moon has become a place of pilgrimage for those interested in the study of the stars and the Octurne itself.

Season 14

This world’s history contains sparse reference to the existence of the Octurne, but the arrival of the Octurne is not an explicit part of the history understood in this world. Rather, the City of Aseraphal predates recorded history with no record of the city’s construction.

All up in this bitch in their multitude, for some reason.

First Hand of the Sun, king of the Aasimar, who was infected by the Illithid and corrupted to become the Angel of Kings. Was lurking atop the White Tower being built inside the Octurne.

The chaos before everything, apparently, walled out by the Weave. Was leaking through the tears in reality/Doors, could have been part of what was messing magic/reality up as well.

Desmun discovered that the natural state of reality is pure chaos, where every possibility and impossibility exist and annihilate one another. He termed this chaotic state as the Strong Extratemporal Force, or “impossible.”

Season 12

Enormous tower discovered being built inside the Octurne at the end of Season 12. Aluvyn’dralor was at the top. It fell when the Octurne broke apart and speared into the world in the far north, where it slowly made itself the new north pole and oriented itself toward the sun (dragging the world with it) and forced the planet to be tidally locked.

Season 13

In Season 13, Esmund figured out that its arrival disrupted the working of the Memento, which kept Queen Lil’lith alive by securing reality, and that disruption was causing the cascading failures of reality.

One purpose of the White Tower is to open portals for use by whoever controls the tower to change our world into something they want. (Note from DM: The White Tower may possess functions beyond interplanar transportation.)

White Tower’s Impact: Desmun’s and Esmund’s studies reveal increasing chronomantic uncertainty linked to the White Tower’s arrival. The Tower’s disruptions are breaking down time, reality, and the weave, allowing the impossible to annihilate reality. It is getting worse, and it will grow increasingly worse until reality itself has completely broken down and collapses.

Season 14

In Season 14, is at the center of the White Crown, the city of Angels that surrounds it. There are no records of the tower and the city never existing; as far as this world is concerned, there has always been ~~~war~~~ the Tower in the north.

The city of Angels at the very north pole of the world. Centered around the White Tower. Inside a wall that burns anyone alive who attempts to enter uninvited. Mortals may be invited inside if they bring a relic deemed worthy (by inscrutable standards).

S14 Background

The pale sun looms watching, fixed in the sky above the White Tower in the North, which is surrounded by the enormous City of Aseraphal. It is from the city the Church of the White Crown serves the will of the Angels, beautiful and terrible gods that rule over your world.

It is said that the lands of Aseraphal exist in a perfect and perpetual Spring, blooming with beautiful flowers of all variety and hue, where behind its enormous white stone walls those who have been accepted by the Church and proven themselves devout to the angels enjoy all the splendor of the their blessings.

One of the known ways to prove yourself to the Angels is to bring a relic from ancient times to them. Sometime they will find the offering sufficient, and grant the supplicant admission inside the walls; other times they will turn the offering away as insufficient, and none know why. Merrick has been rumored to be turned away more times than any, despite having offered some powerful artifacts in his time.

History Divergence Note

This world’s history contains sparse reference to the existence of the Octurne, but the arrival of the Octurne is not an explicit part of the history understood in this world. Rather, the City of Aseraphal predates recorded history with no record of the city’s construction.

An aasimar power source that was once on the moon, or on a moon, at any rate. Exploded into a lot of pieces at some point. A piece was recovered by Samsel and is currently being researched by Gwin in Endergaln. The piece Samsel found most likely fell from the second broken moon.

The one Shard Samsel recovered is fist-sized, faceted, opalescent-amber in color.

Recently discovered (in 01.6.920.9e) that a second Shard, more powerful than Samsel’s, is somewhere in Endergaln, likely located on the largest warship in the city, owned by House Diamante.

The World May have been repaired weirdly by the angels?

Item that stabilizes reality and keeps Lil’lith alive. Feedback between it and the White Tower tore rifts in the fabric of reality/the Weave, and the extra stress added by the Door Jamb led to the Breaking.

Origin and Purpose: The Memento device, created in the Kingdom of Xerastus, was designed to preserve Queen Lil’lith of Lux, who suffers from Chronophasia, a temporal disease causing her to be erased from existence. At the time of S12, it stabilized reality and prevented this reality from opening up to others.

Creation and Flaws: Created by her father during her childhood, the device initially had the side effect of destroying adjacent realities. (This means The Queen is over 4000 years old.)

Repairs and Malfunction: Lux Gnomore repaired the device, but it is malfunctioning again due to disruptions in the weave caused by the White Tower, leading to the breakdown of reality. In S13, it was the main thing preventing reality from succumbing to the White Tower.

Season 13

Previously known as Desmun, a mage who studied the forbidden art of Chronomancy and continually stole and raised baby versions of himself to try and give himself more time to find a solution to the coming catastrophe he had foreseen. Was eventually tracked down by the Verdicts, but before they found the newest baby Desmun, Gwin and Mulgwud Clockwright smuggled the baby away. Taking him to Shepherd’s End, they named him Esmund and raised him as a normal boy with great love and care.

Mulgwud was killed by a jelly (unbeknownst to the kids) during the pudding attack, but Gwin survived.

Built the Door Jamb that could redirect or close tears between planes, which may also have been responsible for ripping apart the fabric of reality. Tested it on a small tear outside of Shepherd’s End, then used it to send a Deeplurker back to its home plane when it panicked about being on the same plane as the angels.

Esmund trekked with the rest to Myrwood to try to find out more about what was going on and maybe establish contact with the capital of Lux, where they found the city overrun by undead. They rescued some of the survivors and sent them back to Shepherd’s End.

On arriving at Silental Tower, he discovered the truth behind his past, made contact with Sav who told them to look for interference with the White Tower’s signals somewhere near them, snatched a version of Salinger out of a time folder recording thing, and attempted to swap Ixtalan for Xalati (but failed due to the latter’s stubbornness).

On going back to the Temple of the Maiden Thrice, he used the Door Jamb again to realign the Door there from another realm to the Place Between, and then close the door, but this probably cracked reality.

Was approached by Lil’lith in the white-beyond-reality offering aid in repairing reality and restoring things, since it’s too late to kill him.
